Sojourn

A Second Life viewer made for VR, with an AI assistant that does things for you when you ask.

Coming: not released yet

It's in daily development. The first release comes once it has most of what other viewers have.

Looking for Second Life without sight? Sojourn Access has test builds now.

An avatar standing under autumn trees, and a small glass panel in front: the assistant's reply: “You’re wearing the grey wool coat now. I took off the denim jacket so they don’t clash.”
After "put on the grey wool coat". On a test grid, on the desktop.

What it is

  • For PC VR headsets. It's built and used with a Quest 3 over Link. It runs on a desktop monitor too, but isn't designed for that yet.
  • The assistant does what's awkward in a headset: inventory, outfits, search, building, dialogs, settings. Ask by voice or by typing. It can also put things up for you to see, like lists, timers and small maps.
  • The assistant is optional, and runs on your own Claude account or API key.
  • Spending, deleting, giving things away and changing permissions wait for your own press.
  • Voice chat, sound placed around you, HUDs, web pages and video on surfaces, name tags and a chat feed.

Where it stands

It's used on Second Life in the headset while it's being made. Before the first release, it's closing the gaps with other viewers, so that it's a full viewer rather than a demo. It will be free.

For developers

Open source, under the GNU LGPL 2.1. Building it needs Windows and the .NET 10 SDK; the repository's README has the steps.
